New twist at Cinnabon

Now you can have your Cinnabon with a twist. In a twist. As a twist. Cinnabon, that soft, sweet, sticky mall treat now has a companion pastry, the Makara Twist. Unlike the 'bon -- which pretty much has to be eaten with a fork, unless you like licking gobs of frosting off your fingers later -- the twist is portable, served in a waxed paper sleeve for those who like to walk and chew at the same time. It's topped with orange glace frosting and sprinkled with crystal sugar. The Makara Twist costs $1.59. By the way, the name Makara is for the exclusive "Legendary Makara Cinnamon," used in 'bons and twists.

Hawaii State Hospital is sponsoring a screening session as part of the National Depression Screening Day Oct. 8. The session will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Windward Mall.

Participants will receive information about depression and have the opportunity to take a written self-test for depression.

Some signs of depression include lack of energy, extended periods of sadness, hopelessness, irritability, restlessness, suicidal thoughts and lack of joy in life. Most cases of depression are treatable, but sufferers do not seek help due to lack of awareness. For more information, call the State Hospital at 236-8212.
