Michael Castillo sank a 10-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole to beat Kevin Hayashi, 1 up, in the Aloha Section PGA Match Play Championship yesterday at the Wailea Gold Course on Maui.

Down four after 27 holes, Hayashi, the Aloha Section's Stroke-Play champion, had pulled even to force a playoff in the 36-hole match.

Castillo shot a 69 in the morning round to take a 3-up lead and extended to 4 up on the 24th hole.

SILVERSWORDS LOSE: Jody Jobanek and Diane Vargo each had nine kills as Montana State-Billings beat Chaminade University, 15-5, 15-5, 16-4, in college women's volleyball last night at McCabe Gym.

The Lady Rebels are coached by Wahine alumnae Deitre Collins and Kee Williams.
