at the zoo

Club Zoo at the Honolulu Zoo will have you "Swingin' with the Apes" tomorrow with a screening of "Planet of the Apes" and its sequels, and dancing to the sounds of Swingwood Revue.

The 21 and older event runs 5:30-10 p.m. and marks the 30th anniversary of the "Planet of the Apes" release.

In addition, there will be food provided by Indigo restaurant, cigar girls plying fine stogies from Havana Cabana, and sales of wine, beers and spirits with a jungle theme. No coolers or outside food and beverages are allowed. Admission is $5.

Club Zoo is a new series of monthly fund-raiser party events aimed at introducing adults to the Honolulu Zoo. Call 732-9575 for more information.

Seniors fair set

Gettin' old -- or do you just feel that way sometimes? The New York Life Seniors Fair takes place 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.

More than 200 booths with demonstrations, games, seminars, products and information are featured. Entertainers such as Dick Algire and "Auntie Ruby", the Waikiki Swingers, line dancers and ukulele players will perform as well.

Special features include a travel expo; hearing testing by Pacific Hearing Care; influenza and pneumococcal vaccines offered at reduced rates or no charge for Medicare part B cardholders; memory testing; and there will also be a grand prize drawing for an escorted round trip for two to Japan.
