picks Rainbows

A junior college player who had signed with New Mexico says he instead will come to the University of Hawaii and play for the Rainbows, his JC coach said.

Bernard McIntosh, a 6-foot-8 power forward, will be eligible for the 1999-2000 season. He is attending Northland Pioneer Community College in Holbrook, Ariz., this fall.

He will transfer to Hawaii for the spring semester.

McIntosh averaged 17.7 points and 8 rebounds last season for Northland, which won the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference title.
