WAIMANALO, KOA KAI PADDLERS WIN: The women of Waimanalo won the Open Division championship in the OHCRA's E Lau Hoe long-distance canoe race from Magic Island to Pokai Bay yesterday, beating out the Healani and Hui Nalu I crews. Koa Kai II was first in the Masters Division, followed by Kalihi Kai and Anuenue.
KOP FALLS SHORT: Hawaii golfer Wendell Kop failed to advance to match play in the USGA Senior Amateur Championship at Glencoe, Ill., yesterday, shooting a 5-over-par 77 for a 36-hole total of 157 in qualifying play.

FUKUMOTO KOREAN GOLF VICTOR: Kendall Fukumoto, a University of Hawaii junior, shot a 71 yesterday to win the 48th Korean Invitational golf championship by 10 strokes with a 36-hole aggregate of 147. Low net honors went to Paul Nunu at 133.
