title to Jones

Dawson Jones of Pupukea led the eighth annual Aloha Joe's Paddleboard Race from start to finish yesterday.

Jones was timed in 40 minutes, 39 seconds for the 4.6-mile race from Waimea Bay to Alii Beach.

Karen Pacote was the first wahine to finish, in 52:30.

HAYASHI FOURSOME WINS: Kevin Hayashi and his amateur partners, Vern Yamanaka, June Takekawa and Lynn Nakamura, won the fourth annual Hapuna Roundup on the Big Island's Hapuna Golf Course yesterday.

COLIN PLACES IN WORLD KAYAKING: Kathy Colin of Kailua and Julia Sorzano of Gainesville, Ga., placed seventh in the women's K2 200-meter event and teamed with two other U.S. paddlers for a ninth-place finish in the women's K4 200 yesterday at the World Kayaking Championships at Lake Placid, N.Y.
