Julia Tina Apiag, 78, of Kailua-Kona and formerly of Ewa Beach, died Aug. 25. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired Hickam Air Force Base maid. She is survived by sons Herbert Sr., Gary, Ronald and Emerick; daughters Loretta Rocha, Sally DeVillanueva, Frances Pelekane-Oliva and Charlotte; sister Lorraine Cabato; 23 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Paul Francis Auyong, 84, of Pearl City, died Wednesday at St. Francis Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was retired from the Honolulu Advertiser. He is survived by son Davin; daughter Michelle; sister Violet Thompson and three grandchildren. Services: 10 a.m. Friday at Nuuanu Mortuary. James Herbert Castle, 88, of Kailua, died Wednesday at his home. Born in Vermont, he is survived by wife Cordella; sons Thomas and Patrick; daughter Candy Bryant; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Private services held.

Mabel Chew Gam Chun, 75, of Honolulu, died Aug. 30 at her home. Born in Honolulu, she was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Diamond Head Kingdom Hall congregation. She is survived by husband James, daughter Sharilyn Ajimine; brother Ronald Tim Lau Chun; sisters Evelyn Lau, Carol Pang and Virginia Chong. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Borthwick Mortuary. Violet Lum-Ho Cup-Choy, 86, of Kokomo, Maui, died Friday at her home. Born in Kaheka, Maui, she was a retired licensed practical nurse for Paia Hospital. She is survived by husband David A.F. Cup-Choy; brother Quon Gee Lum Ho Jr.; sisters Thelma Coan, Daisy Hall and Leilani Pisoni. Service: 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Borthwick Mortuary, Norman's. Call from 6 p.m. Also a service 10 a.m. Friday. Lisa Nalani Cruz, 30, of Waianae, died Aug. 30. Born in Honolulu, she was a cashier at Texaco Service Station. She is survived by fiance Mike Lasaele; son Chironi Leo, brothers Jason, Herbert, Edwin and Daniel; maternal grandmother Helen Kekoa. Private services held.

Arlene Leona Elliott, 69, of Waikoloa, died Aug. 29 at her home. Born in Lodi, California, she was a retired computer analyst with Hughes Aircraft Corp. She is survived by daughter Jan Marie; son David Dow; brother Howard Rode; sister Carolyn Gerlitz; and four grandchildren. Private services held.

Robert “Bob” “Bobby” Fon Keu Fong, 70, of Kaneohe, died Sept. 3 in Kailua. Born in Honolulu, he was retired from the U.S. Customs Service and a member of Hope Chapel Kaneohe. He is survived by wife Elsie; sons Raynard, Dan, Garrick “Gar,” Curtis, Derek, Michael and John; daughters Sherri, Jean, Darlene, Lori and Ivy; brothers Philip and William Chong; sister Mildred Range; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. James Yuk Jay, 99, of Honolulu, died Aug. 25 at Kaiser Hospital. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired proofreader at the Honolulu Advertiser. Hazel H. Kawano, 87, of Honolulu and formerly of Kaunakakai, Molokai, died Aug. 31 at Straub Clinic and Hospital. Born in Hilo, she was a retired schoolteacher. Elena Leonida, 53, of Honolulu, died Wednesday. Born in Honolulu, she was a an assistant vice president for First Hawaiian Bank. Wai Ki Liu, 45, of Honolulu, died Wednesday at Kaiser Hospital. Born in Hong Kong, he was a member of WOLOK Chinese Music Association.
