Van Halen coming

The long-rumored Van Halen concert in Hawaii is on.

Van Halen will finish its world tour at the Blaisdell Arena on Oct. 16 at 7:30 p.m. This time around, the band will be fronted by new lead singer Gary Cherone -- ex of Extreme -- who is far yummier than previous singer Sammy Hagar.

Cherone joins Alex Van Halen (drums), Eddie Van Halen (guitar) and Michael Anthony (bass). Van Halen has recorded 12 multi-platinum albums, yielding numerous hit singles over its two-decade history. The band's latest album, "Van Halen III" marks its third incarnation.

Tickets -- $27.50, $37.50, $45 -- go on sale Saturday at Blaisdell box office and Connection outlets. Charge by phone by calling 545-4000 or 1-800-333-3388.
