Scoring splurge
for Tigers’ Lui

Darin Garcia and Zachary Lui teamed up on 83- , 84- and 68-yard pass plays for touchdowns and Lui returned an interception 34 yards for a fourth score, carrying McKinley High to a 26-20 preseason football victory over defending Samoa champion Samoana High Saturday night at Roosevelt Stadium.

The Tigers trailed 20-12 in the fourth quarter when Garcia hit Lui on the 68-yard scoring play and Tupu Manumaleuna tied the game with a two-point conversion run.

Lui then picked off a David Richmond pass and broke the return for the winning touchdown.

Richmond threw three TD passes -- the first to Andy Andermann for 16 yards, the next two to Faasuka Lutu for 18 yards each -- as Samoana overcame a12-0 deficit to lead going into the final period.

Garcia completed eight of 11 passes for a whopping 303 yards, 278 of them on five receptions by Lui.
