Kerbox was to face Richardson in one semifinal today. The other pitted Joey Buran of California against Mark Price of South Africa.
THREE SHARE OCC LEAD: Linda Hoffman, Kelly Mau and Hyon Weber shared low-gross honors with 81s after the first round of the Oahu Country Club Ladies golf invitational yesterday.
Dale Yanagihara, an E-flighter, was the overall low-net leader with a 91-26--65. The final round is today at the OCC golf course.
WARRIORS' TITLE BID ENDS: The Hawaii Warriors won two games yesterday before being eliminated by Virginia Beach, Va., 8-0, in the USA/AAU World Series for 13-year-olds at Riverside, Calif. The Warriors were to play Hart (Calif.) today for third place.
HAWAII 18'S WIN TWICE: Akaniao Kozoneiwski had two hits in West Oahu's 11-3 round-robin victory over Aberdeen, Wash., and then went 4-for-4 with a home run and five RBIs as the Hawaii team began double-elimination play with a 9-3 win over Guam yesterday in the U.S. Amateur Baseball Championship 18-and-under tournament at Hoquiam, Wash.
At Albuquerque, N.M., winning pitcher Gregg Aquino stroked four hits, including a home run, to lead the Hawaii Sharks past Mexico, 14-7, in the U.S.A.B.A. 12-and-under tournament.
Also at Albuquerque, Hawaii's 11-and-under team won three games, including a 15-9 victory over Central Valley of California in its double-elimination opener yesterday.
Rick Nakagawa went 5-for-5 in a 16-3 romp over the Albuquerque Shockers and catcher Robb Oshima had two hits in a 6-4 nod over the Albuquerque A's and three more in the win over Central Valley.
HAWAII MAJORS BOW: Pitcher Aaron Moises homered in a losing cause yesterday as Waipio lost to Idaho, 9-4, in the Little League Major Division Western Regional tournament at San Bernadino, Calif.
UH SAILORS IN TOP TEN: The University of Hawaii coed and women's sailing teams are ranked among the top 10 in the nation in preseason rankings announced yesterday by a Sailing World magazine coaches panel.
The UH coed team is No. 7 and the women's team is No. 9.
St. Mary's is No. 1 in the coed rankings and Dartmouth tops the women's poll.
IRON CHALLENGE: The fourth GST Telecom Hawaii Kailua Bay Men's Iron Challenge canoe race is scheduled for Aug. 22.
Entry fee for the 91/2-mile race is $90 per crew. Registration begins at 7 a.m. followed by a 9 a.m. LeMans start at Kailua Beach. Fee includes a T-shirt and lunch.

IOLANI INVITATIONAL VOLLEYBALL: Pearl City will defend its title in the Iolani Invitational Girls Volleyball Tournament, Aug. 19-22, at Iolani School gym.
Twenty teams, including nine from California and one each from Arizona and American Samoa, are entered. Other Hawaii teams competing in the state's largest volleyball tournament are Aiea, Farrington, Kaimuki, Kamehameha, McKinley, Punahou, Waiakea and host Iolani.
Play runs from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 p.m. Aug. 19-21. On Aug. 22, play begins at 7:30 a.m. through the 7 p.m. championship match.
Admission is $4 for adults, $2 for students from kindergarten through 12th grade. A four-day pass is $12 and a three-day pass is $9.
BASEBALL MEETING: Baseball players interested in playing for the University of Hawaii are invited to an Aug. 26 meeting at 3:30 p.m. at Rainbow Stadium. They must be full-time registered students at the UH-Manoa campus.
