Outrigger Hotels & Resorts has named Phoebe Beach to a new position as sales director of a selection of economy hotels. She is responsible for the Outrigger Hobron, Outrigger Ala Wai Towers, Outrigger Maile Sky Court, Outrigger Edgewater, Outrigger Royal Islander, Outrigger Coral Seas, Outrigger Waikiki Surf and Outrigger Waikiki Surf East hotels. on Outrigger"People are traveling more in an economy environment and Asians are learning how to bargain-travel," Beach said. "There also are baby boomers traveling on less money or holding it in reserve."
She has 23 years in the resort industry and came to Hawaii in 1983. She recently was sales manager for Marc Resorts Hawaii. Beach also worked in sales at Budget Rent-A-Car, Colony Hotels & Resorts and Classic Hawaii, a wholesale tour operator. She is active in the Visitor Industry Education Council.
