The Ala Moana Hotel has named Mark Miller to go after group sales for meetings and conventions. He will focus on the association, corporate, government and educational sectors.

"Ala Moana is an exciting place to be with the new Hawaii Convention Center going in," Miller said.

He will be making his first sales trip in September to the "Affordable Meetings" show in Washington D.C. The show is organized by the American Hospitality and Sales Marketing Association. He has 20 years of hotel experience and most recently was the national sales manager of the Eldorado Hotel in Santa Fe, N.M.

He is a native of Hinsdale, Ill., and earned a bachelor's degree in management from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas. Miller resides in Kailua with his wife, Deborah King, curator of the USS Arizona Memorial.
