Iolani hires alumni
relations exec

Jane R. Heimerdinger is responsible for alumni relations, communications, special events and development at Iolani School.

The school completed a master plan this year which calls for future expansion.

"It focuses on the future of Iolani in terms of growth of technology and programs for students and the physical plant," Heimerdinger said.

She has been at Iolani for 13 years, including eight as supervisor of the Lower School, kindergarten through sixth grade, and director of its summer session; and five years as a kindergarten and first-grade teacher.

Heimerdinger served in the Peace Corps for two years on Yap, an island off New Guinea. Her 10 years of teaching on the mainland included English classes at Northwestern University Laboratory and child development instruction at the National College of Education in Evanston, Ill.
