


Dean Wilson continued his summer golfing success by winning the Alaska International Pro-Am yesterday in Anchorage, Alaska. Wilson keeps summer
win streak goingWilson shot a final-round 70 to beat Billy Bomar, of Anchorage, by one stroke. Wilson, of Kaneohe, won $12,000.
Wilson and Bomar were tied going to the final hole. Wilson's second shot on the par-5 18th settled 15 feet from the pin and he two-putted for a birdie. Bomar parred the hole.
Wilson also won the Provo Open in May, and the Sports Shinko Rainbow Open and the Kauai Open in June.
HAWAII LOSES: The Hawaii Rainbows lost to Missouri, 8-6, to fall to 2-3 in pool play at the Continental Amateur Baseball Association's 10-and-under World Series yesterday at Cherokee, Iowa.
The double-elimination championship tournament starts today.
BILLFISH PRO-AM STARTS: No marlin above the minimum weigh-in weight of 200 pounds were caught as the Hawaiian International Billfish Association's Pro-Am competition began yesterday at Kailua-Kona.
Five marlin were tagged and released. Three teams, the Saratoga Anglers Club, Laguna Niguel Billfish Club and Bermagui Big Game Anglers Club, used 50-pound test line for their catches and were tied for the tournament lead with 300 points.
The pro-am is a preliminary event to next week's 40th anniversary Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament.
MOVERS LOSE: Mark Okano and Lon Yamaguchi each had three hits but it wasn't enough for the Hawaii Island Movers as they lost to Kitakyushu of Japan, 7-5, in an exhibition baseball game yesterday at Rainbow Stadium.
TUI TONGA WINS: Tui Tonga, skippered by Jimmy Jasper, won the No Holo Kai outrigger sailing canoe race from Oahu's Pokai Bay to Kauai's Poipu Beach on Sunday.
Tui Tonga finished five minutes ahead of Makakoa, skippered by Cappy Sheely.
The race was shortened due to calm winds off Oahu's Leeward coast. The boats were towed from the start area and released 50 miles from Kauai.
Tui Tonga covered the 50 miles in five hours, 44 minutes, 20 seconds.
BIKE TOUR POSTPONED: The Tour of Champions, the 1998 mountain biking season finale, has been postponed indefinitely.
