Spend the day at the zoo, enjoying continuous entertainment, games and family activities Saturday at the third annual Waikiki Children's Festival.

The event, a fund-raiser for the Waikiki Community Center Child Care Program, runs from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with lunch served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Honolulu Zoo.

Entertainment will be provided by BB Shawn, Pure Heart, Moke Boy, Opihi Pickers, storyteller Jeff Gere, Drill Team Hawaii, Mr. Amazing the Magician and 9-year-old magician Gerald Rojo.

JR the Clown, Lani Moo, Icee Bear and McGruff will be available for picture taking. In addition, festival goers will be able to explore their creative sides with arts and crafts, take part in an obstacle course and a scavenger hunt, do some shopping at a keiki boutique, check out various exhibits, obtain a Honolulu Police Department "Keiki I.D." and learn about resources available to families.

Festival admission covers all activities, a sandwich lunch and zoo admission. The cost is $8 for those 13 and older, and $5 for ages 2 to 12. Children under 2 are admitted free. A Family Pass is available for $25 from the Waikiki Community Center before Saturday. K5 Kids Club members are admitted free with one paid adult admission, and those with the Honolulu Zoological Society Family Pass will be admitted for $5 per person.

The Waikiki Community Center Child Care Program provides affordable child care for people who live or work in Waikiki. Funds raised by the children's festival will be used to expand the child care program.

The Waikiki Community Center also operates a program for senior citizens, an emergency food bank, a thrift shop, services for the needy and abused, provides self-improvement and recreational classes, and hosts meetings of community groups and organizations. The center also provides a home for several independent agencies that provide social programs and services.
