Hanalei Bay Resort
names new GM

David Blackwell takes over as general manager of the 288-room Hanalei Bay Resort & Suites as it moves through the busy season.

"We're going into the high season between June and August," Blackwell said. "We do a lot of weddings in June."

He has 23 years of experience in the resort industry, including three years with Castle Resorts & Hotels, most recently as general manager of Elima Lani at Waikoloa Village on the Big Island. He also worked at the Manele Bay Hotel on Lanai, the Kaanapali Beach Hotel and Royal Lahaina Resort on Maui, and in South America for Intercontinental Hotels. He earned a bachelor's in travel industry management at the University of Hawaii, and completed continuing education classes at Cornell University.

Castle Resorts & Hotels is a division ofsCastle Group Inc., and oversees 21 properties throughout Hawaii.
