Straub Clinic & Hospital has named Dr. Roy S. Adaniya as its chief of staff for nearly 200 doctors in 32 specialties. He serves a three-year term and can be recommended for additional terms. He replaces Dr. Robert Flair, who resigned after 22 years .

Adaniya's goals include increasing the multidisciplinary team approach to treating patients. He has been Straub's director of pulmonary services since 1994 and also clinical associate professor of medicine at the University of Hawaii's John A. Burns School of Medicine since 1990.

Adaniya, a lieutenant colonel in the Army, had assignments as general medical officer and surgeon with the First Special Forces, and Brooke Army Medical Center in Houston. He is a graduate of Iolani School. He earned a bachelor's degree in oriental studies at Columbia College in New York and his medical degree with honors from State University of New York.
