Takes care of
seniors' needs

Jolene M. Garcia takes care of human resource duties at the One Kalakaua Senior Living condominium and its health center, Hale Ola Kino.

The center recently received Medicare and Medicaid certification.

"My job is to maintain staffing and ensure that people are happy," Garcia said. "We're always looking for new benefits -- medical or something like movie tickets."

In addition to social events, Garcia also does employee recruitment screening, for the condominium and health center, and keeps informed on safety and legal matters.

She recently was employee relations manager of Altres in Honolulu. Garcia also held management jobs in airline catering with Sky Chefs Inc. in Honolulu and Arlington, Texas

She earned a bachelor's degree in food science human nutrition management from the University of Hawaii.
