Evelyn J. Black, president of Marine Adjusting Services, has been named director of marine claims at John Mullen & Co. Oversees marine claims
Marine Adjusting Services, which handles marine insurance claims, has been acquired by John Mullen & Co. which does insurance adjusting and investigations.
Black is an attorney with 11 years experience, who started her company two years ago. She mostly handles personal injury cases involving boats and ships.
"I try to keep cases out of litigation," said Black.
She charges an adjustor's rate, which is less than an attorney's rate, Black said.
Black previously worked as a maritime lawyer for Alcantera & Frame Co., and Case Kay & Lynch. She is a Punahou High School graduate, and earned a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Hawaii and a law degree from Santa Clara University in California.
