Those oh-so-cute Sanrio characters are coming to Hawaii in a full-scale, live musical stage show Aug. 14-16 and 20-23 at Hawaii Theatre.

Honolulu is the first of 20 cities on the Sanrio Smiles Live! "Adventures in Paradise" U.S. tour.

The production features Hello Kitty doing a hula and Pekkle paddling a canoe. Other Sanrio characters also perform music, dance and stories on a Hawaiian theme and promote the message that we should keep Hawaii litter- and graffiti-free.

Tickets for "Adventures in Paradise" are $12.50 and $15.50 plus theater and service charges. They are available at the Hawaii Theatre box office and Connection outlets. Call 528-5533 for more information or to purchase tickets. For group ticket sales, call 566-7414.

Meanwhile, Sanrio fans can keep busy learning to draw Pochacco, as in this lesson from the Sanrio website at http://www.sanrio.co.jp that even includes a Pochacco drawing song. We don't know the tune, though, so if you don't either, you'll just have to make one up!
