Twenty firefighters from Hawaii and the mainland vied
Below, Mary Stickelman, a firefighter from the Gila River
in the 1998 World's Toughest Firefighter competition this
morning at Kapiolani Park's parking lot. Puni Puni Jr., a
federal firefighter here, drags a pair of fire hoses in the
first of four competition categories today; the others
were obstacle, weight and climbing events.
Fire Department in Arizona, was one of two
women in today's competition.
