Surgery puts
Carters NBA hopes
on hold
The ex-UH guard was

hurt in a Chicago camp
Star-BulletinInstead of working on his game in preparation for the NBA draft, Anthony Carter will be working on his options while recuperating from shoulder surgery. The All-American guard for the University of Hawaii will have surgery next week in Honolulu to repair damage to his left shoulder which he incurred during the first day of the pre-NBA camp in Chicago.
Carter had been projected as a late first- to mid second-round draft in the June 24 NBA draft.
The shoulder is the same one that Carter injured during a Rainbow practice last November. Rehabilitation may take up to four months but "it's not going to take that long," Carter told UH assistant coach Jackson Wheeler.
"We knew from the first time he hurt it that it was one of those things that would eventually need surgery," Wheeler said.
"I'm sure that not being able to play in Chicago will have some relevance on his being drafted. It's going to depend on who was really interested from the beginning."
