Happy 100th
birthday, Kaimuki!

It's a place of numbered streets and storefront awnings, where the climate is hot and dry and small businesses have a chance.

It's Kaimuki and it's turning 100.

The east Honolulu neighborhood's Centennial Celebration runs 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Kaimuki Community Park.

Comedian Frank DeLima, the Royal Hawaiian Band, Hawaiian music groups and the Gleemen Plus of Honolulu choral group will entertain. A $1,500 kitchen remodeling job heads the list of door prizes to be given away by area merchants.

Amateur storytellers will compete for cash prizes telling tales of Kaimuki.

Also at the event, sponsored by the Kaimuki Business and Professional Association, will be food booths and a display of historical photographs.

For information call 926-3159 or 388-5299.
