



The Minnesota Monsters have been dropped from the Professional Indoor Football League after failing to secure financial investors and will forfeit all their games, including a 42-20 victory over the Honolulu Hurricanes, the league announced yesterday. Minnesota PIFL
team foldsWith the forfeit win, the Hurricanes take a 3-2 record into tomorrow's 7 p.m. game against the league-leading Colorado Wildcats (5-0) at the Blaisdell Arena. It will be the Hurricanes' last home game until July 4.
ALOHA STATE GAMES DEADLINE: Registration for the Aloha State Games, which start June 12, will close at 5 p.m., Sunday.
Applications will be accepted tomorrow and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Games office, suite 403 of the Varsity Building, 1110 University Avenue.

LONGBOARD SURFING AT QUEEN'S: The second annual Hawaiian Style Longboard Classic takes place Saturday and Sunday at the Queen's surf spot off Kuhio Beach in Waikiki.
The second leg of the Hawaiian Longboard Federation's "Ocean Club Series" will start at 8 a.m. each day. It also is the first Hawaii qualifier for the World Championship meet scheduled for October in the Canary Isles.
This year's event will be dedicated to legendary Hawaiian longboard shaper Ernie Tanaka, who passed away last week.
Among those expected to compete are current world longboard champion Dino Miranda, former champ Boga Perkins and three-time champ Rusty Keaulana.
SPORTS/FOOD FEST IN KAPAHULU: The Kapahulu Sports and Food Festival will offer competition in cycling, paddling and running, among other athletic activities, Saturday from 2-6 p.m., with proceeds helping to raise funds for the School-to-Work Program at Kaimuki High School and its feeder schools.
Other sports activities include a free bike rodeo for kids, the Kapahulu Chef's Mile Footrace, a BMX and trick riding event, in-line skating, a soccer juggling contest and skateboarding.
"Kapahulu Passports" that cost $10 will entitle holders to sample treats from a number of the area's eateries and offer a chance to win prizes such as a mountain bike, a kayak and running gear.
