Honolulu Advertiser names new publisher

Michael Fisch Michael J. Fisch today succeeded Larry Fuller as president and publisher of the Honolulu Advertiser and president of Hawaii Newspaper Agency. Fisch, 46, will officially join the newspaper on July 6.

Dennis Francis, acting general manager of HNA and former vice president/circulation, was named to the new position of general manager by Fisch. Francis will be responsible for advertising, circulation and production. He, along with the human resources department and Advertiser news department, will report to Fisch.

Fisch was previously president and CEO of the Bakersfield Californian, a family-owned, morning newspaper with a circulation of 71,000 Monday through Saturday and 85,000 on Sunday. Before joing the California paper, he was at the Hartford Courant and Madison (Wis.) Newspapers Inc.

He began his newspaper career in Fairmont, Minn., where he sold advertising for the local newspaper. He and his wife, Nancy, have two daughters, both attending college.
