Pacific Adventures, KITV's half-hour eco-adventure show hosted, produced, directed and edited by Gary Sprinkle, received two Emmy awards from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Northern California chapter Sprinkle wins two regional Emmys
Sprinkle received his second Emmy award earlier this month in the informational program category for "Pacific Adventures: Palau" which aired March 14, 1997. The show visited the Micronesian island chain of Palau, where Sprinkle and photographer Rex Von Arnswaldt took marine tours of the Rock Islands, dived among four million non-stinging jellyfish at Jellyfish Lake, and visited remote Palauan villages.
Also receiving an Emmy award for the camera program category was photographer Rick Pike. Pike accompanied Sprinkle to Sri Lanka for "Pacific Adventures: Sri Lankan" which aired December 30, 1997. Pike was also honored last year with an Emmy for his work on Pamela Young's "Mixed Plate: Lanikai on the Loire."
The Honolulu Symphony salutes United States veterans and Honolulu's military community this Memorial Day weekend with "Stars and Stripes at the Symphony," a patriotic celebration of music from Sousa to Cohan, at the Waikiki Shell at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Symphony salutes 'Stars and Stripes'
Tickets are free and will be required for every adult and child entering the Shell. The tickets will be issued in advance, as available, to adults 18 years and older. Ticket quantity is limited to four seats and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Tickets are available at the Blaisdell box office; satellite and mobile satellite city halls; Honolulu City Hall, Room 404; the Honolulu Symphony box office, 677 Ala Moana Boulevard #606; and the Waikiki Shell. The military can pick up tickets at ITT and public affairs offices.
