ONE movie opens with previews at 7 p.m. today, and a regular run starting tomorrow: Preview
Godzilla: The big lizard returns to take revenge on New York and Central America, which is really Hawaii. Stars Matthew Broderick. (PG 13)
Three movies begin their Oahu runs on Friday:
Bulworth: A political farce. Jay Bulworth (Warren Beatty) faces election for another term as senator from California. He is also cracking up. He is disheartened at how members of Congress, including himself, can be bought by campaign contributors. His marriage to Constance (Christine Baranski) appears meaningless. The breakdown appears complete when he arranges a big life insurance policy from a sinister donor (Paul Sorvino), who agrees to hire a hitman to assassinate him. (R)
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: An adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson's hallucinatory 1971 gonzo tome. Johnny Depp impersonates Thompson in a slog through the depths of the drug culture. Sportswriter Duke drives from L.A. to Vegas with his attorney and partner-in-crime Dr. Gonzo (Benicio Del Toro). Ostensibly the trip is to cover a motorcycle race but it's actually a drug-filled spree. (R)
Spanish Prisoner: A con game of a movie in which the sucker being set up is Joe Ross (Campbell Scott), a straight-arrow "Boy Scout" who happens to be a genius inventor. Joe has come up with "The Process" which has something to do with global warming, and could make gazillions of dollars. (PG)
