TOKYO -- Takatoriki suffered his first loss in the 15-day Summer Grand Sumo Tournament yesterday but his closest rivals also were defeated. Musashimaru
one off paceSix wrestlers were at 7-2, one victory behind Takatoriki.
The group included yokozuna (grand champion) Takanohana and ozekis (champions) Wakanohana and Musashimaru.
Takatoriki was slapped down by Kotonishiki.
Takanohana tried to grab Minatofuji's belt, but Minatofuji fended him off and toppled him with a neck throw.
Yokozuna Akebono, or Hawaii's Chad Rowan, improved to 6-3 by bulldozing out Kaio.
Wakanohana quickly pulled down Shikishima.
Musashimaru, or Hawaii's Fiamalu Penitani, sent out Kotonowaka.
