Heading off potential problems

Tim Cislo heads a new department at Aloha Airlines which is responsible for performing periodic, comprehensive evaluations of the airlines' technical and safety-related areas.

"This improves our company's ability to improve on potential problems," Cislo said.

He has been with Aloha for three years as manager of quality assurance and manager of reliability/audit. Those jobs involved maintenance and engineering. The new department has a much broader scope, Cislo said.

Cislo also worked at Hawaiian Airlines as maintenance auditor-quality control and at Discovery Airways as supervisor for maintenance programs.

He earned a bachelor's degree in aircraft maintenance management from Parks College in Illinois and associate degree in aviation maintenance technology from Honolulu Community College.
