Miss Universe logo While folks in Hawaii await tonight's television coverage, the rest of the world watched today as Hawaii and the new Miss Universe were crowned.

25-year-old Wendy Fitzwilliam, Miss Trinidad and Tobago took the crown in the final with first-runner-up Miss Venezuela, 18-year-old Veruska Ramirez, and second-runner-up, Miss Puerto Rico, 23-year-old Joyce Giraud.

One year ago, Brook Mahealani Lee of Pearl City, Hawaii, took the crown with Venezuela's 23-year-old Marena Bencomo as first runner-up, and 24-year-old Margot Bourgeois from Trinidad and Tobago as second runner-up.
