At the Official All Star Cafe, the fun begins at 7 p.m. in the restaurant's private room. The best look- alike and best impersonator will win $250. Other prizes will also be given. Parking is available for $3 with validation. For information, call 955-8326.
Ryan's Grill in Ward Centre hosts a farewell party complete with menu items like "The Big Salad," "Nazi Soup" and "Marbled Rye." Four movies begin their Oahu runs on Friday:Chinese Box: Director Wayne Wang's movie about the transfer of Hong Kong to Mainland China as it was actually transpiring. Main character John (Jeremy Irons), a married, terminally ill British journalist who's about to be sent back to England by his paper, is madly in love with Vivian (Gong Li), a former prostitute who now runs a karaoke bar. But Vivian is the mistress of Chang (Michael Hui), a businessman with Triad connections. And John has also become fascinated with Jean (Maggie Cheung), a street person who once attended a posh English school. A steamy, world-weary romance. (R)
The Horse Whisperer: Director-star Robert Redford refines Nicholas Evans' city girl/country boy romance into a story of a gentle Montana rancher who heals a wounded horse, a girl's spirit and a woman's heart. With Kristin Scott Thomas. (PG 13).
