ODAMURA, HIPWELL UHH'S BEST: Junior shortstop Kristy Odamura and sophomore catcher Melanie Hipwell shared the Most Outstanding Player award for the 1997-98 University of Hawaii at Hilo softball team, coach Callen Perreira announced yesterday.
Odamura led the team with a .422 batting average and Hipwell set a school single-season record of 45 runs batted in.
BASKETBALL BASH AT MURPHY'S: Murphy's Bar & Grill will host a party celebrating the University of Hawaii men's and women's basketball teams' winning season and helping raise funds for coaches Riley Wallace and Vince Goo in their Coaches vs. Cancer campaign.
Players from both teams will attend, along with members of UH's Fabulous Five.
There will be musical entertainment and an auction. Also included in the $25 ticket price are a heavy pupu buffet and beverages. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.

WAHINE VOLLEYBALL CAMPS: University of Hawaii women's volleyball coach Dave Shoji, his staff and current and former UH players will conduct the Rainbow Wahine Volleyball Camp in four stages this summer.
Camp No. 1 runs from 1-5:30 p.m., June 16-19, and costs $130. Camp No. 2, involving fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders only, is scheduled for 9 a.m.-noon, July 11-12, and 1-5 p.m., July 13-14, with a cost of $110.
Camp No. 3 is to run from 1-4 p.m., July 31; 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Aug. 1-2, and 1-4 p.m., Aug. 3, and costs $130. Camp No. 4, from 1-5:30 p.m., Aug. 4-7, will cost $130 or, for dorm and meal services, $375.

SPORTS GREATS AT SHRINERS BENEFIT: Baseball legends Warren Spahn and Brooks Robinson, decathlete Bruce Jenner and Hawaii Ironman superstar Mark Allen will be among the sports celebrities attending the fourth annual Dolphin Days June 25-28 at the Hilton Waikoloa Village on the Big Island.
A celebrity golf tournament on June 27 at the Waikoloa Beach Course will be the highlight of a week of activities designed to benefit the Hawaii Shriners Hospital for Children and the Pacific Marine Life Foundation.
The weekend will conclude with the "LavaMan Olympic Distance Triathlon," which will offer Hawaii Ironman slots to male and female age group winners.
