Nexcare
Except for the design, the Nexcare bandage is transparent.
The padding is hidden under the tattoo.
Nobody has to know about your ouwee. Tattoo your wounded knee
Thanks to the latest in bandage technology, that skinned knee no longer need broadcast your klutziness to the world by way of an unsightly piece of beige plaster.
Now you can go forth with your wound sanitarily bound, all the while looking fashionably tattooed.
New tattoo bandages formally called 3M Nexcare Waterproof Bandages with Tattoo Designs look like those peel-off, rub-on tattoos popular with kids. They come with tigers, whales, frogs, peace signs, smiley faces, even lava lamps. A sports line features "action packed" sports scenes from the worlds of baseball, basketball and in-line skating.
The bandage is waterproof, which means it won't come off in the tub or the pool and keeps the wound dry.
It somehow does all this while still being breathable and bendable.
"Kids keep it on longer and it gives parents more peace of mind because it's letting the wound heal," said Carie Anderson at 3M.
Our baseball bandage stuck tight through a hot shower, and the area under it stayed dry. It also peeled off easily without a sting, a major consideration if you have a wimpy kid.
Tattoo bandages will be carried soon wherever first-aid products are sold. Right now they're available at Wal-Mart for $3.12 for 25. This is about a dollar more than regular decorated bandages, and at least twice the price of plain bargain brands.
But what price beauty, eh?
