Hawaii Gov. Ben Cayetano turned official Miss Universe greeter last night, shaking the hand of each of the 82 delegates at an invitation-only "Polynesian Revue Welcome Celebration" and dinner at the Sheraton Waikiki.

Miss Universe logo Following the "Welcome Home Brook -- Parade of Nations" through Waikiki, Miss Universe contestants made a grand entrance at the hotel -- delighting several hundred guests -- led by flag bearers carrying the flag of each delegate's country.

Cayetano and Tony Vericella, Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau president, met the contestants, who were then offered tropical-style, nonalcoholic drinks.

On a chilly and breezier than usual evening, delegates in long pants or shorts -- and the required made-in-Hawaii aloha shirt -- mostly shivered during the three-hour dinner, welcome speeches, and Polynesian dance performance by Tihati Productions.

TODAY

"'70s Disco Night" at Planet Hollywood in Waikiki. (Invitation only)

TOMORROW

"Cocktail Party" at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, followed by "Party with the Legends" with Legends in Concert, also at Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. (Invitation only)
