share two dishes

These are the recipes for dishes prepared by Leina'ala Heine and Robert and Roland Cazimero on "Hawaii's Kitchen" this week. The program airs at 5:30 p.m. Sunday and is rebroadcast at the same time the following Saturdays on KHON/ FOX2.

Chicken tofu

From Leina'ala Heine and
Robert & Roland Cazimero

2 pounds chicken parts
1 slab of tofu
2 heaping tablespoons sugar
3/4 pounds string beans
Cup shoyu

Cook chicken, sugar and shoyu together (simmer 5 minutes). Prepare string beans by slicing them in half length wise. Add beans to chicken. Add tofu and simmer until beans are tender.

Bullet Note: can also be made with pork or beef.

Tapa

Pupu dish/Lomi opae

From Leina'ala Heine
and Robert & Roland Cazimero

3 packages opae (dried shrimp)
1 good size Maui onion
2 tomatoes

Soak opae in a bowl of water until soft; then drain.

Dice tomato and onion. Combine with shrimp.

Add sugar, shoyu and vinegar to taste.
