FRESNO, Calif. -- After Jamie Aloy, is there anyone University of Hawaii head baseball coach Les Murakami can turn to for pitching help?

That is the question after Fresno State, unfazed by a 6-0 first-inning deficit, ripped four Hawaii pitchers for 14 hits and five home runs yesterday.

The 15-10 Western Athletic Conference West Division victory kept FSU one game ahead of San Diego State in the division race. The loss left UH a game out of the sixth and final WAC tournament wild-card spot.

The Rainbows took advantage of FSU starter Kirk Griffin's wildness in the first inning. He walked two batters and hit two. Brandon Martin singled in a run and Jeremy Stegmaier tripled in three as UH took a 6-0 lead.

UH starter Patrick McNair faced only four batters in the bottom of the first, walking one, surrendering Jason Fanconi's homer and walking two more before Murakami had seen enough. Before the inning was over, the Bulldogs (26-22 overall, 15-8 WAC) had tied the score. They took the lead for good with three runs in the second.

Martin was one bright spot for the Rainbows (32-18, 10-14), going 3-for-4 with a three-run homer in the ninth and two stolen bases.

Aloy, who held FSU to one run Saturday, was named the WAC Pitcher of the Week yesterday.
