Redrawing the marketing map

The American Marketing Association has chosen Frank Haas as its chairman-elect. The isle executive will take over the national group's top spot next year.

"I'd like to see my new position help put Hawaii on the map for marketing," Haas said.

He has been managing director/CEO for Ogilvy & Mather in Hawaii since 1993. Haas' marketing career started in 1976 with Leo Burnett Advertising in Chicago. He came to Hawaii in 1980, and worked for Milici/Valenti Advertising, Ogilvy & Mather and TheoDavies Food Service Group.

Haas is a director for Children's Discovery Center, Read to Me International, First Night Hawaii, and Chamber Music Hawaii. He also is active in the Governor's Council for Literacy and Lifelong Learning and Aloha United Way. He got a bachelor's degree in journalism and a master's in management at Northwestern University.
