Seinfeld to wrap May 18.

Say your so long
to ‘Seinfeld’

Write the perfect ending for a show about nothing

HOW will Jerry, Kramer, George and Elaine be frozen in the amber of finality?

How about this "Seinfeld" ending: Stuck with nothing to do, Jerry and his pals watch the series finale of "Family Matters." They watch and squirm on the couch, make wisecracks about Urkel, then go out for Chinese food where they have to wait and wait and wait...(fade out.)

OK, they could also watch "Murphy Brown," which wraps after 10 years on May 18. Or how about they watch the Miss Universe Pageant from Hawaii -- it airs May 12 -- and then the gang of four decide its time to hit paradise?

Just what is the proper way for "Seinfeld" to fade to black? As the May 14 finale approaches, the series' writers have hinted at Jerry and Elaine in a wedding chapel, with Newman in a hospital.

Have you got a better ending? Sure you do. It's not like you've never thought you could write a show about nothing.

But remember, "Seinfeld" has spent nine seasons dismissing any likelihood of finding resolution. The quartet has clung to the safety of the status quo, forever changing jobs, relationships, apartments but never their ethos.

If you give any one of them some kind of personal growth, or level headedness, or freedom from the others, that would not only betray that character but undo the show's message: The way to know life's rules is to make up your own game.

Give us the perfect ending to a show about nothing.

Send it to us in 25 words or less. If it's chosen by the Feature section's screenwriter wannabes, you could win one of three official "Seinfeld" baseball caps.

Include your name, address and day and evening phone numbers.
