Women’s golf title
to Tomori

Christel Tomori successfully defended her All-Services Women's Invitational golf tournament title yesterday, winning the 54-hole event by a whopping 18 strokes at the Navy-Marine course.

Tomori, a former University of Oregon golfer from the Big Island, shot a final-round 73 for a 226 total. Runner-up Marie Miyashiro finished at 244 after an 80 yesterday. Bev Kim (81--249) was third.

BACK-TO-BACK UH HONORS: Freshman middle blocker Dejan Miladinovic of the University of Hawaii volleyball team is the second Rainbow in as many weeks to be named Player of the Week in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation.

Miladinovic, also the national Player of the Week, follows senior Naveh Milo on the MPSF weekly honor roll.

BASEBALL SPLIT FOR HPU: Point Loma Nazarene hit eight home runs to outslug Hawaii Pacific, 22-14, last night for a split of their baseball doubleheader at Hans L'Orange Park.

In the first game, homers by Lee Anzai and Daric Stith keyed a six-run fifth-inning explosion that gave the Sea Warriors (13-12) a 6-4 victory.

VULCANS BATTERED: Jim DeBiase pitched a five-hitter and Nakia Hill stroked a home run, a double and two singles, leading Cal State Northridge to an 11-1 baseball victory over Hawaii-Hilo yesterday at Northridge, Calif.

HURRICANES OPEN AT COLORADO: The Honolulu Hurricanes play their first-ever Professional Indoor Football League game Saturday night at Denver against the Colorado Wildcats.

Other season openers Saturday are Louisiana Bayou Beast at Madison Mad Dogs, Texas Bullets at Green Bay Bombers and Minnesota Monsters at Utah Catzz.

The Hurricanes' home opener is on Saturday, May 9, when they play host to Green Bay.

HAWAII SAILORS 10TH: Garrett Woodworth and Len Yonemura captured Division A first-place honors but Hawaii finished 10th overall among 16 schools last weekend in the Boston Dinghy Cup competition on the chilly Charles River.

In the most recent Sailing Magazine national rankings, the UH sailors were eighth.

GODIN INDUCTED: Walter Godin of Hawaii was inducted into the International Martial Arts Hall of Fame in Los Angeles March 28.

Godin received the Golden Life achievement award from the Governing Council of Sanuces Ryu-

Mashaba Force for being one of the pioneers in kempo karate.

Inducted with Godin were Chuck Norris, Leslie Snipes, Billy Blanks and Eric Lee.

TENNIS COACHES WANTED: The United States Tennis Association/Hawaii Pacific Section is looking for qualified USPTA and USPTR coaches interested in becoming a national coach for its zonal and intersectional teams in mainland tournaments this year.
