


The Pagoda Restaurant is the new home for the Quarterback Club, officials announced yesterday. May 11 moving day
for Monday quarterbacksThe first meeting at the new location will be on May 11. For the past 30 years, weekly Quarterback Club meetings were held at the Flamingo Chuckwagon.
But that restaurant is closing. The last meeting for the Quarterback Club at the Kapiolani location will be April 27.
MILADINOVIC NATIONAL PLAYER OF WEEK: Dejan Miladinovic, Hawaii's 6-foot-7 middle blocker, was named the American Volleyball Coaches Association national Player of the Week after the leading the fourth-ranked Rainbows to victories over then-No. 4 Brigham Young and Cal Irvine.
Miladinovic had 39 kills, 13 digs, 10 blocks and a .483 hitting percentage for the week as UH clinched the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Pacific Division title.
The Rainbows (20-5) moved up one spot in the Volleyball Magazine poll released yesterday.
Ohio State (24-1) is No. 1, followed by UCLA (21-3), Pepperdine (17-3) and UH.
THREE TEAMS TIED FOR GOLF LEAD: The teams of Ross Fisher-Ron Castillo Jr., Steve Hookano-Colin Dignam and Clif Council-Todd Bekins shot 6-under-par 66s yesterday at the Hapuna Golf Course on the Big Island to tie for the first-round lead in the Aloha Section PGA Four-Ball Championship.
The 36-hole tournament was to wind up today.
CONFERENCE TOURNEY NEXT FOR UH: The University of Hawaii women's water polo team, ranked fourth nationally in its first season of intercollegiate play, tangle with No. 2 Stanford and No. 7 USC in Bracket B round-robin matches in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship tournament Friday at Stockton, Calif.
The UH Wahine also play third-ranked California and No. 20 Long Beach State in Bracket B matches Saturday.
No. 1 UCLA heads Bracket A.
The two bracket winners will play for the conference title Sunday.
BYUH WOMEN BEAT NO. 1 TEAM: Brigham Young-Hawaii edged Auburn-Montgomery, the NAIA's top-ranked women's tennis team, 4-3, yesterday at Laie.
USC DOWNS UH-HILO: Two-run homers by Jason Lane, Robb Gorr and Dominic Correa and a solo shot by Camilo Gomez carried No. 3 USC to a 12-3 baseball victory over Hawaii-Hilo yesterday at Los Angeles.
MOANALUA BASEBALL WINNER: Blayne Iwata pitched a six-hitter yesterday for Moanalua High in a 3-1 OIA baseball victory over visiting Leilehua.
