Stanford tops Hawaii, 10-9

Ellen Estes scored with 2:13 left in the second overtime to lead No. 2 Stanford over fourth-ranked Hawaii, 10-9, in the championship match of the Aloha Classic college women's water polo tournament at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Center.

Estes, the tourney's top scorer, finished with five, including the first three Cardinal scores.

Hawaii's Marie-Luc Arpin was named the tournament's MVP, finishing with six goals and two assists in three games. Joining her were Wahine teammates Lila Fraser and Michele Wong, Stanford's Estes and Suze Gardner, Holly Kincaid from UC Davis and San Jose State's Elizabeth Garcia.

Hawaii (22-5) next plays in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament, Friday through Sunday, at the University of the Pacific..

WAHINE HONORED: BJ Itoman was named the University of Hawaii women's basketball team's scholar-athlete at the annual awards banquet Saturday night. The junior point guard also was named the Best Defensive Player.

Senior co-captains Nani Cockett and Brandi Ashby were named Best Offensive Player and Most Inspirational Player, respectively.
