Observatory erupts
with hottest news

Look what has popped up over on the Big Island: a much needed new edition of the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory Web site.

This one should be a regular in any Hawaii teacher's list of best bookmarks.

Flow on over to http://hvo.wr.usgs.gov for the latest in information about our state's longest-running hot rock act, the Kilauea eruption.

There are also updates on Hawaii's Big Three active volcanoes: Mauna Loa, Haleakala and Hualalai. Plus, the government includes some fascinating new maps of the active underwater volcano Loihi.

If you can't make a trip over to the caldera, this site is worth exploring.
