


The Brigham Young-Hawaii women's tennis team whipped Hawaii Pacific, 9-0, yesterday at Laie, extending its winning streak to 50 consecutive matches. BYUH womens
win streak at 50The Seasiders, 20-0 this season, haven't lost since April 8, 1996, when they bowed to San Diego by a 5-4 score. The BYUH women won their three remaining matches that year, then went 27-0 in 1997 on the way to the national NAIA championship.
The BYUH men fell victim to Hawaii Pacific for the third time this season, losing, 5-2, to the Sea Warriors, who took five of the six singles matches.
UH WATER POLO TEAM WINS 20TH: Marie-Luc Arpin and Karin Umemura each scored three goals as the University of Hawaii water polo team beat UC Davis, 11-4, last night at Duke Kahanamoku pool, improving its season record to 20-4.
The Wahine have won their last seven matches. They are 4-3 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play.
WAHINE DROP IN SOFTBALL POLL: The University of Hawaii softball team fell one spot to 12th in yesterday's USA Today/Coaches Top 25 poll.
The Wahine (32-8) went 4-5 last week on the road, dropping two games to WAC leader Fresno State.
The Wahine play four home games next week against WAC rival New Mexico. The doubleheaders are scheduled for 5 p.m. April 10 and 3 p.m. April 11.
Hawaii leads the WAC in batting with a .341 team average.
The Wahine also are tops in the conference in steals (45) and runs (230).
MANTLE MEMORABILIA SALE: The University of Hawaii at Hilo, which recently raised $2,400 for its new softball facility through the auction of items autographed by Michael Jordan and the 1996 New York Yankees, will next make available memorabilia from baseball Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle, thanks to an anonymous donor.
To be sold at auction between today and Wednesday, April 8, are a signed Louisville Slugger H&B K55 bat (valued at $3,800), an autographed Rawlings Trap-eze DF 1000 glove (valued at $3,200) and a signed black/white photo of Mantle with Casey Stengel (valued at $1,000).
The upset price for the items is 60 percent of the value. All three items are accompanied by a letter of authenticity.
Bids are being accepted daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kaikoo Mall City Bank and from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the UH-Hilo athletic department office, room 104.

TENNIS ENTRY DEADLINE: The City and County Parks and Recreation Department's 72nd Oahu Public Parks Grand Prix Tennis Tournament will be held at Diamond Head Tennis Center April 10-12.
Competition is for men and women in singles and doubles.
