Firm hasn’t filed
reports with state

What ever happened to Progressive Internet Services after its founders were arrested for allegedly being part of a drug ring?

Progressive Internet Services and its officers, President Eulogio Apelin Jr. and Vice President Claude Asuncion, have not filed their annual report with the state for the past two years, said a state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs spokeswoman.

That doesn't mean the company isn't operating. But if it fails to register for three years, the state will dissolve the company.

In February 1997, federal drug agents busted a lab and distribution network, which shuttled more than 100 pounds of crystal methamphetamine from Bakersfield, Calif., to Hawaii.

Progressive Internet was one of seven local businesses searched by Drug Enforcement Administration agents. The business was formed by some of the suspects, who later were indicted for conspiring to manufacture and distribute crystal meth, agents said. Apelin and Asuncion were not among them.

The company is not listed in the phone book. However, if anyone is being billed for a service that is not provided, call the Office of Consumer Protection at 587-3222.
