Visit Chinatown market

Ranjit Cooray leads a tour around Chinatown, introducing its unique cooking flavors, 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday. Participants will learn about many Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese vegetables and preserves while enjoying a no-host lunch at Maunakea Marketplace Food Court.

Participants must meet in front of Bank of Hawaii in the Yee Hop Plaza, corner of North King and Maunakea streets. The tour costs $15.50 and reservations are required. Call 988-7378.

"Mitakuye Oyasin -- Native Americans in Hawaii," 7:30 p.m., KHET/PBS; repeats 10 p.m. Sunday. Spectrum Hawaii's season premiere focuses on the resurgence of cultural pride among Hawaii's 6,000 Native American population. Just as Hawaiian culture has gained momentum in the islands, so has Native American traditions reawakened.
