He was Hawaii's most-decorated World War II veteran, and he also served in Korea and Vietnam. He was a member of the 83rd Infantry Division Association, 5th Reg. Combat Team, author of several books and owner of a development company known as ALFLO-RONCO. He is survived by son Ronald; daughter Coralynn Jackson; brother Joseph Spencer, and four grand children. ° E. Claude Moore, 85, of Hilo, died Wednesday at the Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. He was born in Detroit, Mich. He was a civil engineer with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Territorial Highway Department before retiring from C. Brewer & Co., Ltd. He was the longtime scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 77 and served on the State Board of Licensing for Professional Engineers. He is survived by wife Eleanor; sons John and Bill; daughter Claudia Kobayashi; brother William; sister Carol Faeth; sister-in-law Mildred, and nine grandchildren. ° Ernest William Roney, 88, formerly of Honolulu, died yesterday at his Issaquah, Wash., home. He retired from Shell Oil in 1970 after 37 years with the company. He also retired from the Air Force as a lieutenant colonel. He is survived by sons William and Richard; stepsons Robert and Donald Haas; sister Josephine Wallace; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. ° Clarence A. “Ding” Silva, 71, of Honolulu, who retired from Hawaiian Telephone Co., died last Monday in Kaiser Foundation Hospital. He was born in Honolulu. ° Diane H. Uchimura, 81, of Honolulu, former owner of Diane's Sportwear, Inc., died March 18 at Kuakini Medical Center. She was born in Kuristown, Hawaii. She was the first woman president of the Hawaii Garment and Accessory Manufacturers Association. She was also one of the pioneers of the poco muu, the short version of Hawaii's muumuu. She is survived by husband Charles; daughter Lisa; son Mark; brothers Minoru and Joseph Ezaki; sister Emi Tamura, and several grandchildren. Services were private.
