The popular program "Soko Ga Shiritai," which turned the daily life of the average Japanese citizen into prime-time programming, ended its production run in Japan last fall, and the last show will air here at 9 p.m. Wednesday on KIKU-TV. 'Soko Ga Shiritai' to end run
The program ran continuously for 11 years in Hawaii, first on KHAI, then on cable, then on KIKU-TV since 1993.
With English subtitles provided by JN Productions, "Soko Ga Shiritai" provided the average person in Hawaii the chance to experience the life of the average person in Japan, according to JN Productions president Joanne Ninomiya.
The program will be replaced in its time slot with "Encounters," in which a Japanese celebrity (and camera crew) lives with a family abroad and records the experience.
Old programs never die, they're just re-run. Past episodes of "Soko Ga Shiritai" air at 7 p.m. every night except Saturday on KIKU-TV.
Prince Kuhio Day will be celebrated 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the federal building that bears his name, at 300 Ala Moana Blvd. In honor of a prince
