Nene Award presentationNene Award-winning author Constance Hiser-Robson will announce the winner of the 1998 Nene Award 9 a.m. April 17 at Hawaii State Library. Hiser-Robson, from Webb City, Mo., was the 1997 Nene Award winner for "Ghosts in Fourth Grade" -- a story about a boy and his friends who turn a home into a haunted house to scare the class bully on Halloween night.
The Nene Award is presented to a favorite book voted by Hawaii's children in grades 4 to 6. This year, nearly 8,600 children voted for the award.
The award is sponsored by the Hawaii Library Association's Children and Youth Section and the Hawaii Association of School Librarians.
On April 18, Hiser-Robson will appear for brief presentations and autograph sessions at the Pearl City Library from 10 to 11 a.m. and at Ward Warehouse from 1 to 2 p.m.
