Sweep for Hawaii-Hilo

Adam Cancellieri's two-out RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted the University of Hawaii-Hilo Vulcans to a 3-2 college baseball victory over Southern Colorado yesterday at Hall Memorial Field in Hilo.

Cancellieri's hit scored Darren Chu from third and gave the Vulcans a doubleheader sweep.

Hawaii-Hilo won the opening game Clinton Vaughn singled in Anthony Jackson with the winning run in the seventh inning as the Vulcans rallied for a 6-5 victory.

Hilo improved to 8-19, while Southern Colorado fell to 12-14.

SOFTBALL SPLIT: Susie Schoales pitched a four-hitter as Hawaii Pacific won the opening game of a college softball doubleheader against Hawaii-Hilo yesterday, 3-0, at Carvalho Park in Hilo.

In the second game, Rayne Tomasso's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning scored Wendy Pagan to give the Vulcans a 3-2 win.
