Ziggy Marley



Marleys to perform in Hawaii

Hawaii welcomes reggae royalty when the Marley brothers Ziggy, Damian and Julian perform, 6 p.m. April 10 at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center and 1 p.m. April 11 at the Turtle Bay Hilton on Oahu.

"Reggae in the Country," presented by Goldenvoice, will feature Ziggy Marley and the Melody Makers, and Damian and Julian Marley and the Uprising.

No coolers, lawn chairs or outside food and drinks will be allowed.General admission is $26. Tickets are on sale at the MACC box office, Hungry Ear Records, Radio Free Music Center, Tower Records, Pearl Harbor Bloch Arena and the Kaneohe MCBH ITT outlet. Also at Connection outlets: Blaisdell Center box office, Jelly's-Market City and Pearl Kai, Tempo's House of Music Ala Moana, Tempo Music stores, University of Hawaii Campus Center, and the Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel MTI desk.

Time to feel Irish

Continue the celebration after the St. Patrick's Day parade by attending the Lord Mayor's Ball from 2 to 5 p.m. March 17 at the Waikiki Community Center. Admission is $5 at the door.

There will be refreshments, and the celebration includes performances by Jimmy Borges, Varoa Tiki on the accordion, Shari Lynn, Irish tenor Alan Gelfius and the John Norris "Lovely Houghlihan Band."

The WCC's Lord Mayor, who will be selected within the next week, will preside over the festivities, and will also ride in a Rolls Royce in the parade.

Friends of the WCC are welcome to march in the center's parade unit Call Jeffrey Apaka at 923-1802.

The parade begins around noon at Ft. DeRussy and proceeds along Kalakaua Avenue to Kapiolani Park.

Celtic concert at the Row

Restaurant Row observes St. Patrick's Day with a concert 7 to 11 p.m. March 17.

The Celtic Pipes and Drums of Hawaii, aka the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Marching Band, will perform traditional Celtic music. Also performing are Fiji, Faceless and Ilona Irvine. There will also be a beer garden serving green beer.

There is no cover charge.
